8 Easy Ways To Relieve Stress!

Nowadays, many people suffer from stress and anxiety and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better because there’s so much to accomplish.

People work and have families, social plans, cooking, cleaning, and grocery shopping.

It never ends and we just can’t do it all.

According to the Mayo Clinic, “Stress symptoms can affect your body, your thoughts and feelings, and your behavior. Being able to recognize common stress symptoms can give you a jump on managing them. Stress that’s left unchecked can contribute to many health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes.

Here are 8 stress relievers:

    1. Exercise
We need to make time to move our bodies, even if it’s 10 minutes per day. Providence Apothecary says that “Moving our bodies daily is so vital for our mental health, our strength, and for healthy skin. By getting ourselves moving a little more each day, we are helping our bodies and minds function at their best”. So, if you are a couch potato, you need to get up off the couch right now and get moving!
    2. Stop Mindless Eating
Weight Watchers describes mindless eating as “eating food without paying adequate attention to what and how much is being eaten“. Pay attention to what’s going into your body. Eat nutritious foods!
    3. Stop Over Planning
I’m so guilty of this, are you? I don’t want to miss out on anything, so I tend to over plan and live in the future. Not good! Living in the future keeps us from living in the present, which makes time fly and creates stress. Sometimes, by the time the planned event arrives, I’d rather stay home.
    4. Write in a Journal
Many times when I’m feeling overwhelmed it’s hard to move forward and it’s equally difficult to sleep. What helps me is writing in a daily journal to help sort my thoughts and ideas. All the frustrations come out and it’s somewhat of a release.
    5. Have Coffee with a Friend
There’s nothing I like more than spending a couple hours laughing and catching up with a girlfriend at a local coffee shop. It fills my heart, soothes the soul, and creates happiness for the rest of the day.
    6. Drink Water
Staying hydrated a so important. Water is good for your brain.  It keeps your memory sharp, your mood stable and motivation intact. It’s also good for your mouth as it keeps your throat and lips from feeling dry.
    7. Watch A Funny Movie
One movie we watch during the holidays every year is Elf and laugh hysterically every single time. We try to watch a lot of comedy shows and movies because we enjoy laughing. Laughing relieves stress.
    8. Get Engrossed in a Project
I spend at least four hours a day blogging because it keeps my brain active and I’m living in the moment.
