Can Belly Fat Increase Your Risk For Heart Disease?

Many people who walk around with extra weight on their bodies might not know that carrying extra belly fat can be dangerous!
If you carry extra belly fat, it’s time to get serious about shrinking that waistline!
Our bodies store two types of fat, Subcutaneous and Visceral.
Both contribute to your body’s weight, but work in different ways.
Subcutaneous fat lies directly under the skin.
You’ll find Subcutaneous fat if you pinch your upper arm or wrist.
Visceral fat (toxic goop) lies deep within the abdomen and surrounds the body’s organs, which can lead to serious health problems like heart disease and diabetes.
Visceral fat can increase your cortisol levels, cause high blood pressure and can raise your cholesterol, so it’s important to take care of yourself. Eat nutritious foods, exercise and control your weight.

Here’s a recap of the string test which you can do right now:
- Take a piece of string and measure it to the length of your height.
- Fold in 1/2.
- Make sure you can fit the rope around your waist and that your waist isn’t bigger than the rope.
