Focus Your Time on Being Productive!

đź’ˇ When I was growing up, one rule in my dad’s house was to turn the lights off after leaving a room.
🛋️ He was a real stickler about this and would question me if I was not occupying the room where the light was left on.
🛏️ I’ve spent much of my life ensuring lights are off in unoccupied rooms.
Sometimes I hobble around in the dark, just so I won’t have to turn the lights on and off. LOL
My husband is exactly the opposite!
He likes well lit rooms and enjoys turning on all the lights in the house and keeping them on.
I used to find it annoying, but realized that in the big scheme of things, it’s not a problem unless I make it a problem.
🛑 Instead of focusing on the light issue, I focus on all the nice productive things he does for our family on a daily basis like:
- Vacuums
- Does all home repairs
- Takes care of the yard
- Networks and fixes our computers
- Runs errands with me
- Performs physical comedy to keep us entertained
❤️ How lucky am I?
🧠I could spend my time thinking that he should turn off lights, but I don’t control my husband (or anyone else), nor do I want to.
It’s not productive!
Spending time being productive sounds like a lot more fun, doesn’t it?
We can’t control others, we can only control ourselves, right?
🔦 If I notice that the lights are on in unoccupied rooms, I can turn them off all by myself.
Do you focus your time trying to control what others should or shouldn’t be doing?
Why?
Since we don’t have the ability to control others, why not focus your time and energy on controlling your own actions by doing something productive or creative instead?
It’s a great way to practice self-care and think of how much you could accomplish!
