Have you heard of an Anti-Inflammatory diet?

The Anti-Inflammatory diet consists of foods that decrease inflammation in the body and can provide natural pain relief.

When the body is inflamed, it can cause many serious illnesses.

When inflammation persists or serves no purpose, it damages the body and causes illness.

Inflammation can make your joints hurt, and can cause cramps, headaches, and allergies.

Eating-anti inflammatory foods can provided natural pain relief for Arthritis sufferers.

Some foods that can provide natural pain relief for the body are Turmeric, avocados, sweet potatoes, kale, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and blueberries.

Turmeric has a mustard taste to it and smells terrific when soup is cooking.

It’s is an anti-oxidant and an anti-inflammatory agent and can be used to reduce inflammation of the shoulders, knee and elbow joints and can provide natural pain relief for rheumatoid arthritis.

It may also lower cholesterol levels.

Did you know that Ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to provide natural pain relief to achy joints caused by rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis?

It can be frozen and used when needed and lasts forever in the freezer.

Before putting it into the freezer, cut a piece of the skin off,

Whenever you need some ginger, take it out of the freezer and grate it into your tea or your soup.

It’s also supposed to help with seasickness and general nausea.

Lentils are anti-inflammatory foods and keep your blood sugar stable and they are full of fiber and protein.

The Magic of Kombu!

Kombu (pronounced KOM-boo) is an edible sea vegetable and can be used to calm digestion and prevent gas while eating fibrous foods.

Kombu is anti-inflammatory and known for its detoxifying effect.

The iodine it contains makes it important in the proper functioning of the thyroid gland.

Kombu is also important because it protects the immune system.

I use Kombu in soups that include beans, lentils or lots of cruciferous vegetables as it improves digestion and reduces gas.

It really works, no tummy aches for me!!

As an added bonus, Kombu may improve thyroid function as its full of iodine, and according to Draxe.com the iron content in Kombu helps prevent both iron deficiency and anemic symptoms.

In my opinion, Kombu sticks look like beef jerky and I buy mine on Amazon, but you can also find in your local health food store.

Check out the short “Kombu” video below:

Sugar causes inflammation.

Red and processed meat, alcohol, most dairy products, and common cooking oils also cause inflammation.

If you frequently suffer from cramps or headaches, you might want to consider adding some healthy, good-tasting, anti-inflammatory foods to your diet.

Instead of reaching for a bottle of pills, try natural pain relief like an avocado instead!

Here’s some of the foods we bring on road trips!

  4. Larry

Sounds yummy delicious! But, not an option for someone like me who cannot tolerate legumes..

  5. Dawn

Sounds interesting. However, I am sensitive to iodine… Is the kombu essential? Is there a substitute?

    • Kim

Hi Dawn, I use the Kombu for the iodine AND to remove the gas. If you skim off the foam, that should get rid of the gas as well. Try it and let me know what you think. Thanks for the comment! Kim
